My visit to 2020 reveals a whole new changed world!

My participation as a player and facilitator in the World Bank’s online game, EVOKE is one of those things that have happened to me that will stay legendary. The weekly IMAGINE mission objectives required the players to take a visit to the year 2020 and report on what they saw this world like then.

I know you must be wondering how possible it is for someone to visit 2020 that is actually 10years from now. Don’t worry, that also happened to me the first time I was asked to get there.

In our first EVOKE mission (Social Innovation), we were asked to report about how we, the new social innovators would have tried to fix the world by 2020 clearly highlighting our successes. I must say, it took me approximately 48hours to clearly understand what I was required of. Unfortunately, when I reasoned this out as a scientist, I totally failed to get the solution. So I just closed my eyes, relaxed my nerves, and within just 2minutes, I was already there. It was a world of peace, love, and great accomplishments.

Around 2012, after graduating from University, I started a non-for-profit organization named AgroBoost whose main objective is to improve the agricultural sector of Uganda by: providing capacity building to farmers; and to help link the farmers to the buyers of their products. At AgroBoost, we are high believers of the Chinese proverb that says “give a man a fish and you feed him for today; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

8 years down the road, AgroBoost has done well in promoting agriculture in the country and tackling the sibling problems like high unemployment levels, and high crime rates due to redundancy. Since its start up in 2012, AgroBoost has also organized and facilitated a number of capacity building workshops and seminar in the countryside for farmers who we have continued to teach good farming practices.

Extract from my EVOKE imagine mission objective evidence ( A transformed Uganda in 2020 ).

When I returned back to 2010, I came back with a sense of hope that soon everything will get fine – we just need to work hard.

In the fifth EVOKE mission (The future of money), we were asked to journalistically report a story about a new form of exchange, money transfer, or currency that was just going to be launched the following day, April 1, 2020. The video below was the report I submitted.

Testimonials
I met Ronald some time when we went out to shoot a video concerning rubbish disposal and street kids. I was greatly impressed with his efficiency as he handled that camcorder. He looked too young to be doing this. That was my inspiration to cross into the computer and media world.

As of now, I’ve worked with Ronald a number of times, and in each piece of work, he has constantly proven his proficiency and reliability in producing blockbuster media. His skills in graphic design, animations, video and photo editing and web site designing go unmatched. He is simply a media prodigy. Way to go Ronald!
